The Charley Davidson Leukemia Fund (CDLF) was established by Toby and Bert Davidson and Charley's friends and family to aid the fight against childhood cancer. Established in 1981, CDLF remains the longest standing active fund for pediatric cancer at Mass General Hospital. The mission of CDLF is to improve the quality of life and the chance of a full recovery for young patients everywhere.

The Fund's mission is threefold:
  • 70% of the fund's expenditures are allocated to ongoing research at MassGeneral Hospital for Children, to develop effective cures for all forms of childhood cancer, including acute lymphocytic leukemia that claimed Charley's life. Progress has been encouraging. Today, thanks to the development of new and advanced treatment methods, the cure rate for acute lymphocytic leukemia is 80-90%, compared with 20-50% when Charley was diagnosed in 1980.
  • 20% of the fund's money provides comfort and amenities for pediatric cancer patients and their families - art and music therapy and a DVD library - which create a more pleasant treatment environment.
  • The remaining 10% is invested in a perpetual endowment to ensure that adequate funding will be available for future needs.

All fund raising and administrative needs are generously provided by dedicated volunteers, maximizing the impact of your contribution.
